McKettricks of Texas: Garrett is by Linda Leal Miller. It is one of a trilogy about three McKittricks of Texas.
Garrett McKettrick is the second son and has always been interested in politics. He works for Senator Morgan Cox. His brothers do not like Cox and try to tell Garrett that the Senator is not the clean-cut American hero that Garrett thinks he is. Garrett has always ignored them. However, he cannot ignore the Senator getting up in front of a large group of people, including his wife Nan, to announce he is divorcing Nan and marrying Mandy Chante, now a former stripper. Nan takes the announcement quite well and Garrett escorts her out to her car so she is out of the way of the reporters. He then gets a room for the Senator in the hotel and escorts him and Mandy to the room. Then he heads for Silver Spur Ranch near Blue River, Texas to think. He is disgusted by the Senator. The next day he returns to Austin for a press conference and is then fired by the Senator. Gladly he heads back to Texas. He finds Julie Remington and her son Calvin staying at the Big House on Silver Spur.
Julie and Calvin are staying here while the cottage she is renting is undergoing termite extermination. Her sister, Libby, her fiancé Tate, and his twin girls are living in a small house on the ranch and help her care for Calvin since his school begins later than Julie’s. Calvin loves living on the ranch and staying with his Aunt Libby before and after school. He gets to play with his cousins and see Tate and Garrett. Julie is faced with Calvin’s father wanting to come into Calvin’s life after five years, having to put on a musical this fall to raise funds for computers, pull off putting on three plays written by students to help with their getting into college, having her landlady put her rental up for sale, and now, her attraction to Garrett.
Does Garrett really have feelings for her, a single mother who lives a completely different life than Garrett’s on-show political life? Would she even consider uprooting Calvin and following her? What is Nan Cox going to do now that Morgan is disgraced?

Linda Lael Miller is the reigning queen of western love stories. I've read this one before and I'll read it again. I love the McKettrick Cowboys.

Has more substance than most romances
I fell in love with Tate and was so excited to read this one. I love Garrett and Julie. It was equally as gripping as the first one but their love story is unique...and as always with Linda Lael Miller...the dog is enchanting

Wonderful author! Although I have not read this book (it was a Christmas gift for my Mother), I have read many of her other books. All of them were great (well I stick to the Country books-Coboys and such). Have a cold glass of water with you, they tend to get steamy!!

She has a semi-supernatural side, but I have not read thoese. If you like the western love storys, you will like this writter.
